Abdulaziz al-Tarefe is a well trained Muslim scholar, a public figure, an outspoken Muslim intellectual, a role model of intellectual resistance, an online influential of a scholarly caliber, the author of many books, lectures, Islamic TV programs, and an open critic of the western Secularism and the American political tyranny.
On April 2016, Abdulaziz al-Tarefe was arrested by the Saudi Governmnet under the direct orders of the US Government – the most tyrannical regime of the world and the sponsor of terrorism. The global audience and followers of this outspoken and eloquent scholar were shocked. No official reason was given by the Government of Saudi Arabia behind his arrest, yet it is obvious: his influential personality, his ideas and his uncensured and well argued criticism against the negative and corruptive changes that are taking place in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia – home to the Holy Mecca and Madinah.
Whether we agree with his religious views, thoughts, political opinions and outspoken criticism, little does it matter for he is an undisputed Muslim scholar – his scholarly achievement is the best testimony to this claim; therefore, we cannot afford his arrest and removal from the public scene, let alone burying him in the American controlled prisons of Saudi Arabia.
For us – the common Muslims, it is not easy to become a scholar. It is an arduous and extremely difficult path. For us, it is not easy to contribute to the Islamic Ummah even though it is incumbent upon us to do so. However, the least we can do is to show solidarity with our scholars – the stars and the light of our Ummah. Without them, we all are doomed.
It is reported in the Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī that the Prophet Muhammed (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has said, “the parable of the believers in their affection, mercy, and compassion for each other is that of a body. When any limb aches, the whole body reacts with sleeplessness and fever.”
In this regard, the Government of Saudi Arabia should immediately release Abdulaziz al-Tarefe. Arresting him is a despicable, unjust, and a cowardly action, as it is a deed of the devil. We all know that the Government of Saudi Arabia is under the full control of the US Government and the UK, we all know that the order to arrest Abdulaziz al-Tarefe has come directly from the tyrannical US regime – the enemies of Islam and free speech. We all know that the US Government wants to wipe Islam out, and it is doing it by arresting scholars, killing Muslims, and sponsoring terrorism in Muslims lands.
The family of Abdulaziz al-Tarefe should request directly from the US Government, the US Embassy in Riyadh, the US State Department, and the Shura Council to free him. They should react publicly and treat his arrest as an act of betrayal from the Saudi Government.
